Task 1 – Research

I started to look at very similar games that similar to the game I will be creating, so I began looking on the Google Play Market for Puzzle Games, the games I looked at were "Maze", "Unblock Me" and "Can You Escape - Tower"

The game "Maze!" has a total download of 5,000,000-10,000,000, this game is a free game to download so in terms of profit they will make there money from the adverts or the company will add additional content within the game that the player has to buy to get the additional content. When researching this game the company that made "Maze!" is called Opena a French company based in the middle of France.

The game "Unblock Me" is also a free game that you download from the Google Play Market it is similar to my game as its all about getting out of a situation and reach the exit. This game has a total download of 10,000,000-50,000,000. Again as the first game the game will earn its by adverts also the company might put in more levels that the player has to but when I was researching the company i found out that they have made a free version also a paid version, a paid version is the same game but without the adverts, this game is priced at $0.99 (£0.58) but is only available on the IPhone App Storem this game averages around $1,175,720.00 a year (£700,000).

The Third game i looked i found out that they're main headquarters are based in Tel Aviv, Israel but they also have a branch in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. The Game "Can You Escape - Tower" has a total download of  1,000,000 - 5,000,000. Again this game is a free download but with the amount of adverts that are on the game make the company money.

When researching all these similar games I came across a pattern as all the companies "Mobigrow", "KiraGames" and "Opena" target the gamers who are looking for games that are passive, who are looking for a game that is mentally challenging towards themselves. After playing all three of these games I can say that they all have a challenge in them weather it is easy or mind blowing, they all have a certain pattern.
