The Final Major Project was the one
project I have been waiting for the most because it lets me decide
what I want to do, but I just needed the motivation to really start
it. I decided to do these two maze maps one totally different from
the other for my FMP.
This project really helped me show off
my skills in 3D Modelling but also shown what I lack which I did
think I had covered. When I came to start drawing out my maze
examples I didn't think think it would be hard to come up but once I
had got one down on paper the ball started to roll it became more
fluent to me and I settled for 4 mazes I thought that it was going to
be effort to do the mazes however I seemed to enjoy more and more
drawing out mazes, as it seemed to be one of my favourite parts.
My next point is
that when it came to the 3D Modelling I thought I had most areas
covered but unfortunately I didn't have some of the skills that I
thought I had. The initial design of how my mazes looked was set in
stone but they were in my mind because when it came to putting it
onto the computer,it just never came out right. I started out by
placing points on where I wanted the maze to go, but I started to
evolve the maze how I imagined it in my mind, it finally started to
pull together as I knew what the maze looked like in my mind and how
I wanted to design it. During this stage I was putting lots of my
time sometimes it was wasted time getting the detail down, the reason
I say it can be classed as wasted time as at times it seemed like I
was working backwards.
The main issue I
had was time. I felt at some points I didn't work to my best ability
and took advantage of the time we had and spent it taking my time not
doing it the best I could, this is one of the reasons why the project
over run. I also had a couple of days off due to being sick which I
couldn't avoid and due to the fact the software I needed wasn't
available at home, so I did blogger work and research to make up time
for it.
I ended up going
over my deadline to finish my project, so I rendered my project out
and then edited it down so it looked like a short game trailer.
Overall I am
happy with the way I did my project given that I ran out of time,
however I am keen to improve the maze and make it into a game as my
personal goal.
